Galveston hosts a variety of events throughout the year and one you don’t want to miss is the Galveston Island Food and Wine Festival. It celebrates culinary expertise and award-winning vineyards and this year the week-long event takes place April 17-23. Depending on the day, some of what you can do near The Club of the Isles includes:
5K Champagne Run
Lace up your running shoes for the second annual Champagne Run. The route takes runners along the island’s beautiful seawall before they cross the finish line of tiny bubbles. Runners of all ages are welcome, but only those 21 and older can enjoy the champagne. Race day is on April 22 at 9:00 a.m. and participants receive a t-shirt and sponsor swag.
The Chaine Dinner
The Chaine des Rotisseurs is the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world. According to the festival’s website, the United States chapter is comprised of 6,000 gourmands, chefs, hoteliers, food & wine educators, and more. This dinner features delicious food and outstanding wine with a few surprises mixed in. Guests will blind taste three red and three white wines that were chosen during the preliminary blind tasting in order to select the festival’s Grand Champion, Grand Reserve Champion, and Reserve Grand Champion.
The Grand Tasting
This event provides guests with an opportunity to sip a variety of wines and taste unique dishes presented as tapas style platters. Those in attendance receive an event program with a complete list of wines and a souvenir wine glass.
