If you enjoy supporting the community and cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables, head to Galveston’s Own Farmers Market.
Open year-round, this market dates back to 2012, and its purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Galveston and surrounding areas by providing a forum for community activity that fosters social gatherings, synergy, and interaction.
Held every Sunday, shoppers find an array of vendors such as:
Law Ranch Cattle Company – The Law Ranch Cattle Company is a family owned business that never gives its cattle antibiotics or added hormones. The entire side is dry aged for 14 to 21 days, and customers often state that the company offers the best beef they have ever tasted.
Texas Hill Country Olive Company – This company began in 2008 when John Gambini and Rick Mensik purchased seventeen acres of land in Dripping Springs, Texas. They planted olive oil trees, and today the company is the most award-winning olive oil company in the state. Flavors include Garlic Crushed, Jalapeno Crushed, and Lemon Crushed.
Island Aquaponics – Island Aquaponics states that all-natural, locally grown produce begins with organic and heirloom seeds that produce the finest herbs, fruits, and vegetables. The company participates in urban farming in downtown Galveston, and it never uses synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or GMO seeds. Products sold at the market include collard greens, red leaf lettuce, and Tokyo Bekena cabbage.
Bob’s Salsa – Bob’s Salsa is a must try for anyone who enjoys spicy foods. The mouth-watering salsas are known for making noses run, and flavors include Orange Honey, Peach Habanero, and Jalapeno Ranch.
