For more than twenty-five years, the Galveston Art Center has hosted ArtWalk on eight Saturday nights a year.
It takes place in the city’s historic district, and the next one falls on August 26.
Participating galleries include:
From the HeART Gallery
Owned by husband and wife Scott and Samitha Edwards, From the HeArt is a fine arts and home decor gallery. Its showroom is more than 3,000 square feet and features both local and national artists who work in a variety of mediums such as drawing, pastels, and non-animal textiles. The staff is friendly, and guests can enjoy complimentary coffee or tea during their visit.
Third Coast Gallery
Established in 1985, Third Coast Gallery participated in the very first ArtWalk. It’s housed in a building that dates back to 1874 and features the original brick walls and New Orleans-style courtyards that offer a relaxing atmosphere. The gallery offers the works of artists who work in mediums and styles such as watercolors, abstract paintings, and wood turnings. It also serves as the studio for Jack Morris who is known for his commissioned portraits and paintings of Galveston’s historic homes.
Rene Wiley Gallery
Rene Wiley graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and has gone on to win numerous juried exhibitions. She opened her gallery in 2009, and every year since, it has been voted “Best Art Gallery” by several of Galveston’s publications. Rene is known as one of the most prolific oil painters on the Texas Gulf Coast, and she captures a variety of subjects such as seabirds, landscapes, and the city’s magnificent architecture.
