One of Galveston’s historic treasures, The Grand 1894 Opera House is celebrating its 125th year with its 2019-2020 season beginning this fall. Just over seven miles from your Club of the Isle apartment, The Grand will be hosting a variety of highly-anticipated concerts, shows, and events for this legendary season. Here are a few highlights:
A legendary season means legendary performers. Bringing his “80th Birthday Celebration Tour” to Galveston, flutist Sir James Galway will share the stage with Lady Galway for a night of incredible classical music this October. If you enjoy a mix of medieval, experiential, and contemporary choir music, you’ll enjoy seeing the Vienna Boys Choir in November. Perhaps the highlight of the season, renowned singer-songwriter Willie Nelson is coming to The Grand in November for “An Evening With Willie Nelson & Family.” You don’t want to miss this!
You can also enjoy delightful theatrical performances this season at the Grand. Clifton Daniel will be starring in Give ’em Hell Harry!, portraying his grandfather President Truman in this humorous retelling of the former president’s life. Be a part of an annual Halloween tradition with Ron Lande’s improvised musical score of the silent film Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Lastly, don’t miss your chance in October to see the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Once, which tells the captivating story of a Dublin street musician.
