Need a good book this summer to read while laying on the sundeck by the pool at your Club of the Isle apartment? Make your way down to 23rd Street in Galveston to a bookstore that has something for everyone: Galveston Bookshop.
A Local Spot For Good Reads
Galveston Bookshop in the Strand historic shopping district is lucky to be operating today! In 2008, Hurricane Ike covered its first floor in over 7 feet of water. The massive inventory was ruined! But after a long cleaning process and renovation, the store reopened and continues to bring good reads to the people of Galveston, Texas. The shop now carries an impressive 70,000 titles and offers both used and new books, vinyl LP records, comics, audio books, DVDs, and music. There truly is something for every reader (or listener) here! And the best part is, you can trade in your used books for store credit so you can keep on coming back for that perfect book.
If you are interested in Galveston history, Galveston Bookshop is the place for you! They carry “almost every in-print book on Galveston and whatever (they) are able to acquire out-of-print”. You can also find Easton Press and Franklin classics in leather-bound form, rare literature, and many first editions. The shop also hosts Local Authors Meet and Greet events one Saturday of every month. Here you can rub elbows with Galveston writers, join in on discussions, and get your book signed.
Whether you are looking for the next great read to enjoy during your summer relaxation time or you want to learn more about the unique history of the Galveston area, we suggest checking out Galveston Books!
