Galveston boasts an active art scene complete with local artists, galleries, and family-centered art studios. From Mardi Gras mask painting to spring break art camps for the kids, there is a little something for everyone to enjoy. Here is a starter list of fun events to get your creative juices flowing!
Clay Cup Studios
The grand reopening of Clay Cup Studios in their new location happens on March 9th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Adults and children can find an array of projects to participate in at this fun-filled art studio. Offerings include glass fusion, pottery painting, canvas art, and even silk painting for those who want to wear their art home! Adults can give wine glass painting a whirl with step-by-step instructions during “Art’tini” nights. Or practice canvas creations while sipping on a glass of red since the facility welcomes outside snacks and BYOB.
Starting on March 12th, kids can look forward to a 3-day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The studio’s Facebook flyer lists solar paint, tie-dye, canvas art, and glass fusion as the featured mediums this year, and the cost includes lunch and snacks.
A Galveston tradition for over 25 years, ArtWalk occurs on eight separate Saturday nights in Galveston’s historic district. The next ArtWalk takes place March 9th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Check out oil paintings, jewelry, mixed media, watercolors, and photographic artwork displayed in over 25 galleries, cafes, restaurants, and shops. With so many options, there are plenty of places to visit in order to learn about Galveston’s art scene.
